Ordered a High-Performance Radio (RP7887) by Thomson Multimedia Inc. from "Electronica Direct" with weather channels for $47.98 and $9.98 shipping and handling. Item sent was an RCARP7887 at $41.90, box was torn and ripped and mended with tape, radio had a dented in speaker screen and damage to the front case. The battery cover had been broken and repaired with glue! Buyers beware!Customer Review: Thompson Has the Quality Back in this Superadio:

I just received my third Superadio III and I must say that the quality of this one was much better than the other two. Both AM and FM reception sensitivity were nearly as good as my Panasonic RF-2200.
A little history on my previous two GE Superadios'. The first one, which was a GE purchased about 7 years ago, was taken out by lightning even though the radio was sitting on a shelf, unplugged and off. The lightning stick was so strong that the EMP pulse induced into the ferrite rod took out the front end semiconductors of the AM band - the FM band was not damaged. The second radio, purchased last year to replace the one damaged by lightning was built under the RCA brand, arrived with several problems. The AM band was untuneable, I thought I could fix it but ended up damaging it so badly that it was unreturnable. Bottom line, the second one built uder the RCA brand was just plain junk.
Knowing the capabilities of the Superadio III, I could not resist trying again to get a good one working, and I do not regret it. This one I just received is super and will become my garage/poolside radio - great sound, unbelievable long battery life, super sensitivity for picking up those fringe stations that always seem to have programs that you are most interested in.
Thanks Thompson for bringing back the GREAT GE SUPERADIO III, albeit under the RCA name.

I got this radio after many hours of research and a friends advice,as he had one.great reception on both am and fm . It has the best sound of any portable I have ever heard.I went to local Circuit City and they did not have a radio that would receive a FM station I was trying to get. This one picks up signal strongly. I ordered from amazon.com and received in 2 days.Strongly recommend if you are looking for a great am-fm portable.
