Customer Review: Good recorder that includes external mic for better recording and tape counter

A reviewer complained that a power adapter was not included - none of the competitors include one either, and they are available if needed - see one of the universal adapters on Amazon that includes a 3 volt DC output - the papers with the recorder say the adapter should be rated at 200 mA (milliamps) or more. Most of the universal adapters will be rated much higher than that 200 mA, which is fine; that just indicates that they could handle a much greater load than this produces. One I saw listed on Amazon is overkill, but would work: Hosa ACD477 AC 100-240V Multi Voltage DC Adaptor
There are 2 tapes included not one. The included clip-on mic is cheap, as you might imagine, but it gives better recordings than the built-in mic, which picks up the motor noise and tape noise as do all the competitors I've heard. The built in mic is as good as the all other microcassette recorders I've heard, but the external mic gives better sound quality than all of the recorders' built-in mics that I've heard (including the Olympus S-711). The tape counter is a very useful feature that the Olympus S-711 doesn't have. I've used this recorder (RCA RP3538R) for several hours of recording and playback and haven't needed new batteries yet. I gave it only four stars because I haven't used it long enough yet to say much about reliability. So far it seems great overall.
